3 RPG websites you should check out

22 February, 2007 (00:16) | Games | By: admin

While I’m continuing the work on Reign of Ice – I should have some more art previews in the next day or two – I thought I’d take a minute to post some cool RPG-related sites that have come to attention lately.

  1. Spirit of the Century SRD: If you’re interested in the FATE RPG’s latest incarnation, Spirit of the Century, check out this nifty SRD some fans put together. (I wouldn’t post the link for it if FATE creator Fred Hicks hadn’t done so already himself, just so you know that it’s kosher!) If anything, it’s gotten me even more excited about buying the book as soon as I get the chance.
  2. Dave’s Funky Premise Generator: If “terminally ill mutants battle superhuman foes during the Industrial Revolution” or “Conspiratorial ducks quest for glory in the ruins of post-apocalyptic New York” sound like the sort of campaigns you’d like to run, hit the Premise Generator. Random campaign ideas galore; you can and will waste entirely too much time here!
  3. Project Nemesis: The home for all things One Roll Engine and Chaosium’s Basic Roleplay System-related, including Wild Talents. Everything about it, from the sharp layout to the reams of content, kicks butt. There’s some incredibly good fan content on the site; it reminds me of the old Fudge Factor before it closed its doors and turned into just an archive site.

Plugging away

Things are progressing nicely on Reign of Ice; I’ve completed a few more pieces of artwork for it, and I’ve started on the part of the first draft that I always save for last: the statblocks.

I submitted a short piece for the upcoming Mutants & Masterminds Magazine. I hope it’s accepted; I’d love to have something of mine in the premiere issue!

Maps & Wild Talents

I put a few more maps up in the gallery this evening. I’ve been converting a lot of my old PDF format maps into JPGs, mostly to keep from taking up scads of storage space here on the website.

Meanwhile, I’ve been waiting for my copy of Wild Talents to arrive… Damn that Media Mail! That’ll teach me never to preorder anything again; I just don’t have the patience to wait around 7 months for a book to come out.

I don’t think Wild Talents is going to replace M&M as my favorite supers game, but I’m keen to check out Ken Hite’s worldbuilding section. It should be pretty keen.
